What to expect in an Aqua Aerobics session?


Although the sessions and training method might vary from one place to another, here's what you can expect from an aqua aerobics session:


  • Aqua Aerobics sessions are usually conducted thrice a week, which can be on alternate days of the week, say Monday- Wednesday- Friday or Tuesday- Thursday- Saturday.

  • Individual demo sessions might be available. Always ask the organisers if that's a possibility.

  • Sessions usually last for 45 minutes.

  • An aqua aerobics session includes 10 minutes of warm up and cool down each to be impactful and prevent injuries any form of cramps.

  • Aqua Aerobics consists of flexibility as well strength building exercises, while keeping you at your toes and maximising your aerobic capacity- so getting little tired after the sessions is normal.

  • Always eat something light before you join the class. This can be an energy rich food that can prevent you from getting tired early.

  • Always carry a bottle of water (may contain a little salt and sugar with water) to prevent cramps, especially if your classes are in an outdoor pool.

  • Aqua Aerobics is NOT limited to equipments! So don't be surprised if your instructor doesn't ask you to lift any dumbbells or floatation devices within the pool.

  • Always dress appropriately when going for an aqua aerobics class- ensure that you have a good swimsuit, a swim cap and a pair of swim goggles. Ask your instructor if anything else is required.


Who can join Aqua Aerobics?


Everyone!

Irrespective of your age, diagnosed condition and lack of knowledge of swimming, anyone can join aqua aerobics.

However, you must schedule up an appointment with the instructor prior to signing up for the class. The instructor will make sure that there's no harm if you enter the pool after asking you some questions regarding your health status and might perform a preliminary assessment before approving your presence in the aqua aerobics class.
